Columbus 2000

Track2.JPG (21462 bytes)The NMRA Columbus 2000 race was held during the weekend of May 5 - 7, 2000.  NMRA stated that they would have real-time coverage on their web page, but it didn't seem to work out that way.  This page will have time-delayed coverage with videos, race summary, etc.  Hope you enjoy.

Update 2:  Well, that's why you like to have shake-down passes BEFORE a race.  Seems that during the 10.68 qualifying run, SlowGT banged the spark plug ground electrode with the piston in the number eight cylinder.  The good news is that 10.68 on 7 cylinders is...  pretty good news.  Continued problems with leaking cylinder heads (machined valve spring seats doing a good impersonation of "Old Faithful") kept Mike out of the second and third round of qualifying.  After 16 quarts of Mobile 1 and some K&W Block Seal, SlowGT was ready for eliminations.  More good news is that K&W Block Seal really works!!  In the first round of eliminations (only the second pass on this combination) SlowGT ran a 10.60 against number 1 qualifier Bob Hanlon while shutting down about 100 feet early.  Let's see, 1,492 miles and 25 hours of drive time (ONE WAY) for two passes..... only in drag racing.  Also, after qualifying at number 4 in Super Street Outlaw, John Urist went out in the first round by leaving with too much boost for the tires - 8 psi.
