Chassis

Lnch3.jpg (24821 bytes)Use the hyperlinks below to get to the detailed chassis information you want.  The SlowGT chassis is almost entirely factory 1988 5.0 Mustang GT that has been tuned for drag racing.  The structure has been reinforced with a 6-point roll bar and the front and rear suspensions have been thoroughly "adjusted".  Just a few years ago, the primary difficulty in making good ET's was just the need for more horsepower, now the key is in the launch.  In recent years (since the car began doing wheel-stands), the chassis and suspension have become just as important as engine horsepower in determining overall performance.  In this section of the site, we outline what has been done to make the car launch hard and straight.  We begin with the roll bar and will proceed to describe the entire chassis over the coming weeks.  Be sure to check this page frequently as we will be updating it regularly over the next couple of months.
