It is fairly easy to replace the 3'rd and 4'th gear synchro's. It takes about an hour or so after the transmission is out of the car($50-$150 for labor). This estimate assumes the person is familiar with the T-5. I have done this 30-40 times. I would try to avoid the "grinding" as much as possible as this will damage the gears. If you wait too long you will have to replace the gears as well (this will add $200-$300 to the cost).
