I agree with your engine builder. Our experience with the systemax intake has verified what you are seeing. I would think that it would be difficult to get 280 cfm out of that intake. Talk with Extrudehone directly. They might be able to tell you what they can get. If you are running at rpm’s above 6500, I would recommend the Victor 5.0 intake. We were able to get 270-280 cfm with a GT-40 lower intake (heavily ported and welded) and a Hogan sheetmetal upper intake.
